The purpose of the conservation work was to slow down the processes of destruction and stabilize the state of preservation of the unique medieval monument, which continues to be a key attraction for tourists and pilgrims.

The conservation work was preceded by a thorough study and documentation of the monument. 3D scanning, photo and video recording, geodetic surveying, geomagnetic scanning, as well as the laying of archaeological pits are just some of the wide range of advanced methods and approaches that have been applied to the monument.

The collected data, processed and systematized, formed the basis of the conservation work project.
Special attention was paid to the interpretation and most complete presentation of the monument, raising awareness of the general public, as well as improving the potential of local personnel working in the field of protection and promotion of historical and cultural heritage.

This project to stabilize and preserve the mausoleum of Khalifa Yerezhep at the Mizdakhkan necropolis (Khojeyli, Republic of Karakalpakstan) was initiated with a grant from the Ambassador's Fund for the Protection of Cultural Property (AFCP) in 2023 with the support of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan.The work at the facility was carried out by a group of highly qualified international and local experts in full compliance with the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

When carrying out the work, the provisions of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Protection and Use of Cultural Heritage Objects" dated 0830, 2001, No. 269-II, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Protection and Use of Archaeological Heritage Objects" dated 10/13, 2009, No. ZRU-229 and other applicable regulatory legal acts are strictly observed.
